What’s the best way to cancel noises created by neighbors re-modelling their apartments with power drills?

May 16th, 2009 | Posted in Drills   Comments Off
Marcelo B asked:

The building I live in hosts 70 apartments. When one neighbor finishes redoing their apartment another one starts. When they use power drills the sound level goes over 100db.

I work night shifts so I can only sleep during the day when they are allowed to make this kind of noise.

I was wondering if there are any gadgets that can help with my problem. I heard some things about white noise generators, would they do the trick?

Question about Power Drill?

May 13th, 2009 | Posted in Drills   Comments Off
hong_wei886 asked:

I got a Black & Decker Corded Power Drill but something inside the drill like a “dark coal bar” worn out after long time use.
Does anyone know what is the “dark coal bar” called.
And where can I buy it for replacement.

“the dark coal bar is like a brush for the generator, when the machine turns it makes little bit of fire light”.

I am looking to buy my fiance a power handheld drill while he is gone on a 3 week buisness trip…An engineer where I work suggested a Kawasaki 21.6 V drill that he bought at Sams…it was 45$. Is that good 21.6v?? what exactally does that mean? You are talking to a girl who can barely use a hammer?!? If that is not good can you suggest others?!?

Can you drill thru a guitar pick to make a necklace?

April 5th, 2009 | Posted in Drills   Comments Off
Ashley<3 asked:

Its a regular Fender pick, med. weight… and I have a battery power drill. What kind of bit should I use, and will it work w/o shattering? Or should I just use a hammer & nail
Oh- I also saw that you can use a hot needle or nail. Does that make a more or less accurate hole than the drill?

DeWalt power drill which to buy?

April 2nd, 2009 | Posted in Drills   Comments Off
Cari B asked:

Buying a power drill for husbands b-day. Know I want a DeWalt but not sure which is best for him. Is there a big difference between 12 Volt and 9.5? It will get moderate use and the difference in price is $50? My choices are DeWalt® Heavy Duty 3/8in 9.6V Cordless Drill/Driver Kit and DeWalt 12-Volt Variable Speed Cordless Drill/Driver Kit. Which should I get?
