What the best brand/kind of cordless drill that’s under $100?

Friday, May 30th, 2008
The Dude asked:

My dad has a panasonic that I really love, but those are wickedly expensive. Is there something similar I could find that’s cheaper?

Oh, and I want one that automatically locks when it’s stopped, so you can manually tighten without having to put it “in park”.

Randall

Is craftsman a good brand of cordless drill?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008
Helz asked:

Alright I went to OSH today and bought a craftsman drill that was normally like 100bucks and got it at 50… So now I’m wondering whether or not I got a good tool… The only tools I’ve ever used were Ryobi and Black and Decker and they didnt have any of either of those at the store… So… Whatcha think? Is Craftsman a good tool?
I bought the 3/8” Drill/Driver with Worklight 15.6v with 24 torque settings…

Whats the difference between a cordless drill and a cordless hammer drill?

Thursday, May 15th, 2008
crissy asked:

I want to buy my husband a cordless drill. Ive been looking at the Dewalt brand and they have a cordless drill and a cordless hammer drill. Well I found out he wants to switch to Milwaukee and ive been looking around and all I see for that brand is a hammer drill. So whats the difference?
My husband farms so I would never know for sure what he would be using it for. I know he always wants the “best” he firmly belives that you get what you pay for and the more you pay the better your getting. But the one he has now is not a hammer drill and i dont recall him ever saying that he wishes he had a hammer drill…..

I have a Black & Decker 14v cordless drill (used maybe once or twice). When I run it, it looks like there are sparks inside visible through the slots on the side. Is this normal?

How to recover my cordless drill that I dropped in 24 feet of water?

Monday, May 12th, 2008
jvelvetpants asked:

I dropped my cordless drill in the lake and I would like to get it out and see if I can fix it. I don’t want to hire a diver or anything. Any ideas on a cheap way to get it. I know where it is within a couple foot radius.
The drill housing is plastic, so I am afraid that a magnet won’t work.

Cordless Drill?

Sunday, May 11th, 2008
cobblejoe asked:

I have a Bosch 12V cordless drill. The drill came with 2 batteries. Both batteries have not been holding a charge.
I have the choices of buying new batteries @$50-$70 each, Have Batteries Plus rebuild the batteries for $40 each.
Or trash the drill and buy a new 14V for around $200.Do you have anyother ideas? Which choice would you go for.
P.S. I do like this drill.
