My dog absolutely loses his mind when he hears a power drill. What can I do to stop this behavior?

He’s very laid back, sometimes I have to check his pulse to see if he’s alive. Get the drill out and he turns into an 8lb psycho.
We are about to tackle a large remodeling project and I wont send him to a ‘doggy day care’.
