How do I use an adjustable carbide hole drill?

Sunday, December 13th, 2009
Scott R asked:

I bought the QEP adjustable carbide hole drill to create a 1-1/2″ hole in some hard ceramic tile. I attached it to my hand-held power drill and began drilling. Once the hole cutting edge begins to cut into the tile, it does not stay level so it begins jumping and wobbling terribly. Is this not recommended for use with a hand-held power drill? I am I supposed to use some sort of drill press instead to keep it level? Or am I missing something?
