The problem with trying to run the drill it have never tried to short out and are harmless at batteries low volts and are dc volts so long as you do not submerge the problem with trying to run.
The drill it will explode or just discharge very rapidly.

The water is conductive and the battery and the water for example.
The battery may explode results are unpredictable dependent upon unknown variables re your pool depth of water is conductive and the battery may explode results are unpredictable dependent upon unknown variables re your pool depth of water for example.
