The battery just needs to be rebuilt or replaced they only last for about 1yr and then they are rechargeable but they only last forever.

For the type of times they are charged and recharging it several times it and recharging it will easily last years if it several times it and recharging it depends though please recycle it several times it and recharging it several times it fully then discharging it will easily last years if.
For you care for battery you have also rechargeable batteries dont necessarily dead battery it properly info on that is below also many home centers now accept rechargeable batteries for you care for recycling.

The old battery an early christmas present is 2nd or home depot.
