I live in a cold city where it get’s down to -35 in the winter. Does it matter if I store tools in the garage that are battery operated?

I always keep mine inside where it is heated. Freezing batteries, especially if they are not kept fully charged, will dramatically shorten the life.

Batteries have less power when they are cold. And the lube in the gears gets very stiff, cutting down on power even more. If you don’t plan to use it, the cold will not hurt it at all. Batteries like being stored in the cold.
