For cutting edge machinist would know about the optimal speed for cutting without burning the bit cutting without burning the makita there is no real nice dont last near as card stock in makita steel irwin or dewalt.

Unless you are talking about the big demolition drills then any bit will fit any drill that is big enough to hold it. You gotta watch those guys in the stores, sometimes they know what they are talking about, but a lot of the time they have no clue at all. I’ve been in Lowes and Home Depot a few times and watched them give horrible advice. Once they leave I usually go over and tell the customer the right way to do it.
